The load bank loco started out as a resin class 84 shell made by applegreen models. Using drawings of the real loco the grills were marked out and the bodyshell then altered. I had to take a ‘best guess’ with the roof mounted grills as no photos exist. The bodyshell came with a set of cast metal bogie side frames that were mounted on lima class 87 trailing bogies. This means the loco is unpowered like the prototype and has to be hauled by another loco. The pantograph head is fitted with a white led that flashes when the loco passes over a magnet buried under the track.
